Book Binding Options

Hard Cover / Case Binding

Case bound covers can be made of cloth, vinyl, leather or printed paper secured over cardboard then attached to the internal pages using glued-on endpapers. With case binding, the internal pages of the book are sewn or stitched together in page order, then attached to the hard covers.

Perfect Binding

A widely used soft cover book binding method. With this binding method, the pages and cover are glued together at the spine with a strong yet flexible thermal glue. They have a square, printed spine and the cover is usually made from paper or cardstock that is heavier than the interior pages

Saddle Stitched

Ideal for booklets with a small number of pages where the booklet is stapled along the crease of the fold, with or without a cover.

Plastic Coil Binding

Spiral coil binding (also known as Color coil or plastic coil binding) is one of the most popular and fastest growing of all coil binding styles. Documents bound with spiral coils lay flat and the pages can turn 360 degrees around the flexible PVC coil spine.

Wiro Binding

Twin Loop wire binding involves taking a preformed C shaped wire, placing the spine through the holes on the edge of your document and using a wire closer to close the C shape into a round binding element. Documents lay flat and is often used for training manuals.

Finishing Options

Lamination

Lamination is available in both gloss and matt options. It offers a professionally look and feel to the finished product by adhering a thin sheet of film using heat and pressure. It tends to add depth to the colours and is a popular option for business cards and brochures and ideal for offset printed jobs

Embossing

Embossing is creating an impression or imprint on the service of paper or card stock in the shape or form of a design, decoration, pattern or logo. It raises the surface of the finished product, creating an elegant, professional look and feel.

Foiling

Foiling is a specialised technique whereby a thin film of metallic or foil is impressed onto a document using a die (or stamp). It creates elegant, eye-catching results that simply cannot be replicated using standard printing. It produces a unique effect that makes the product shine and offers a level of sophistication on your printed material.

Spot UV

A technique whereby varnish is applied to a sheet either as an overall finish or as a spot varnish and then dried using ultra-violet light. It creates a smooth, glossy, striking effect and really makes a visual statement on your finished product.

Hole Punching

Hole punching is used to prepare your documents for a variety of binding options. Whether you are Coil or Comb Binding, inserting your documents in a ring binder or simply need a hole punched for any application, we offer this as part of our finishing services.

Perforation

Perforating Paper is a technique used to allow easy separation of 2 sections of paper, allowing them to be torn in a straight, clean line. Composed of a series of small impressions, tearing the paper from the perforation should be quick and easy. Quite commonly used in invoice books, perforating is also available in a variety of other applications.

Numbering

Used for any application where sequential numbering is needed on your printed documents. Whether you need invoice numbers on your NCR books or sequential numbers for quote documents, membership or loyalty cards, we can assist.

Creasing

Creasing or Scoring is the process of which a document or piece of paper is creased using a professional machine, to create a clean, consistent and professional fold in a document. It creates a line that reduces paper stiffness and aids the folding process.

Die-Cutting

Die-cutting is the process of cutting a piece of paper or material to a custom shape and size. It is cut on special machinery and creates a consistent and very specific cut. Typically used for presentation folders, business cards, boxes and speciality shapes for brochures the options are extensive depending on your project.
